Thanksgiving part Gobble Gobble (2)

7:52am
The way my bed is angled, the first thing I see when I open my eyes is the sky.

As I lazily let myself come to be, blue skies and bright leaves greeted me. Yes! Let's hit the farmers market and get crackalacken on my first ever turkey...and ensuing dinner party!

But first, my routine morning meditation...

And as the chime called me back to life, the sun was warm upon my toes and a soft breath of classical music was wisping in through my window....Good morning world. It's a beautiful day!

Lets make a turkey!

1:37pm
Ok turkey, it's just you and me. Let's do this thing!

4:13pm
Ok, mostly feeling good.
First ever giblets touched and removed. Turkey stuffed and in the oven. Stuffig made. Beans steamed and almonds browned. First ever "reducation" made. Everythig else being brought by guests. Table set.

Now all there is left to do is sit on the couch and coach myself through the waves of anxiety bubbling up...undercooked, overcooked, undercooked, overcooked....?

11:28pm
Success! Moist turkey (mostly because
the thingh wasn't fully cooked through...but whatever...turkey soup)!

And although this first was really about making a turkey and successfully feeding it to people. I would like to give thanks.

For a town thought (and sometimes experienced) to be somewhat cold, isolating and flighty, it was such an amazingly warm, boisterous and contented evening.

Half the guests of this little dinner party didn't know each other. And half were strangers to me; an 11th hour invite to friends of friends to fill up the spots that had last minute been cancelled.

It ended up being a rich experience of good conversation, side splitting laughter, great food and quick feeling of connection with new people. A great example of how kindness breads kindness and karaoke breeds the best thanksgiving ever!

Song of the night, a Backstreet Boys anthem we hate to admit we know the words to but somehow love to sing!
