Scoot scoot putt putt

Since I moved to Vancouver, I have dreamed of cruising the coastal drive along Jericho, Spanish Banks and UBC ....on 2 wheels ...

Thanks Cycle BC!!!

And so, my dream came true earlier this week as our gang of 4 friends, decked in leather and a rock star attitude puttered our way along the beach on our 24cc....scooters. Oh yeah. Badass.

So badass in fact, we left in our wake crowds of people whistling, cheering and waving. And although my friend swears it was rush hour commuters honking, swearing and booing us off the road, I'm convinced they all wanted to be us.

Why? Because it was one of those glorious end of summer afternoons. The sun low and warm. The air fresh with the hint of wood fires coming to life. Apple cider and pumpkin pie.

With maybe the exception of slowing down traffic as we cruised at top speeds of 40km/hour, we had a good laugh with the people we passed by.

From the police officers that chatted us up as they curiously assessed our rides, to the couple who graciously agreed to do our beachbabe photo shoot, to the pedestrians jokingly asking us if they could join our little gang. It's true what they say. People are drawn to people having fun and the scooters were a BLAST!

To cruise along and have the sun hit your face, to be going slow enough to really look around and take it all in, power at your finger tips and the pleasure of not having to work too hard in the process (sorry my bicycle friend), was really kind addictive.

I see the draw to long motorcycle trips. Sorry mom!

Thanks so much to Cycle BC for generously donating the experience to our gang of 4! They were super fun, young and a well-run outfit and I think as entertained by our enthusiasm to hit the road as we were.

A highly recommended experience!! More info and fun can be found in both Vancouver and Victoria:

I wasn't lying when I thanked them and told them they really did make one if my dreams come true. I guess it really doesn't take much ;)
