A Particular Class of Woman

Inspired by a 1985 Ontario court case whereby a judge minimized a crime against a stripper, saying that she was from "...a particular class of women whose profession it is to promote lust",  is Janet Feindel's play by the same name.

I came upon the play through a good friend. A friend of hers, and an acquaintance of mine, has put together a great little company called NeverYouMind Productions. And by popular demand, they brought "A Particular Class of Woman" back to life last night at Firehall Theatre in Vancouver's East Side.

I had the great privilege of watching as the women of NeverYouMind took to the stage in their small costumes but big personalities! A courageous endeavor combining insightful monologues, skillful dancing and a solid round of laughter!

My mind tends to wander during plays but not last night! Could have been the peanut gallery/unexpected audience participation. But no, it was the talent, courage to strutt about, comedic timing as well as the fascinating glimpse into an era, an industry and a strength of person,  that made it special. Super well executed, fun and full of life. Go catch it if you can!!
