The little ones count too

With all these grandiose plans ahead, I've noticed that my everyday life is full of firsts. And really, these stepbrothers of the main event - the white water rafting or  spelunking or whatever - are  sometimes the greater of the experiences.

Enter the Vancouver pride parade. In all it's glory, it has managed to evade me until this year. A worthy first on many levels. Throngs of people, heat, noise, sun, sweat, sass, squealing, singing, tourists, feathers, boas,  more tourists, buses of tourists (peace sign!), big men in small suits, big floats and little clothing, community, colour, class and you have wall to wall party....in my backyard. Literally. Making it impossible to avoid heaving my spackle and sandpaper (home improvement first, no less) aside, and surrendering myself to the mayhem, joy and pride that was pride.

Happy Pride Vancouver.
